I saw an ad offering a free spider monkey to a good home, as the owner is leaving the state to go to college. We’ve got children, dogs, cats, hamsters & fish already.

What kind of care does a spider monkey need? Are they usually caged or free-roaming? What do they eat? Do they mix well with other pets? Children? Do they use a litter box?

Any info that you can give me re: spider monkeys as family pets will be appreciated!

Question by noseyone: How do you stop a cat from biting your toddler?
I think the cat became scared of the baby when he was little and less able to control how hard/soft he touched the cat. Now he is older, and when he pets the cat, appropriately, the cat bits him! Anyone have any helpful ideas of how to get these two co-habitating peacefully?

Best answer:

Answer by lyd285
spray the cat with water. They hate water and it is a good training act. I do that with my cats and dogs and they learn fast and it does not hurt the cat or anything which is good.

I live in Arizona near the desert and I caught a wild baby lizard. I put it in a small cage with air holes in it and everything, and caught two crickets and put it in the cage. There is also sand, rocks, some grass, and a very small bowl of water in the cage. Please give me advice on how to take care of this lizard. Thank You.

Question by bleurayvn: How do I train my ferret to stay off the couch, without using scare tactics?
My ferret’s grown to be a fat little guy and his weight, combined with his sharp claws, is destroying my suede couches! I’ve tried scaring him off but it only worked to make him fear me! I just recently regained his trust again but he’s back on the couch! Help! I don’t want to smack him either, I can’t do it, he’s just too cute!

Best answer:

Answer by Lindsey HD
Ok honestly, I’ve never cared for the most part what my ferrets got onto and the things that I don’t want to them to get onto they go straight for, so I am make them inaccessible.

Is their a way you can modify your couch to make it possible to keep him off.

You could try scruffing him and saying no every time he goes on it and placing him back on the ground. That would more than likely take awhile to work (if it does) though.

A spray bottle like you would use with cats is also a possibility, but my ferrets just go after the water bottle.

Honestly, instead of training him to stay off you might be better off either finding a way to make it impossible for him to get on, or find away to make it possible to allow him on (covers on the couch when he’s out?)

Ferrets are tenacious, persistent and stubborn little buggers. Training them to do anything like that is going to be hard work and a take a lot of effort on your part. Sorry that I don’t have than many ideas for you, but hopefully maybe one of them might help

Good luck!
