tag of under $75 — I am assuming the cage and accessories might run another $75 or so. Also important is that the bird, if taken care of properly, will have a fairly decent life span so that the bird and I can enjoy a long friendship.

cockatiels are great beginners birds. average greys can cost anywhere from $60-70 in a pet store. maybe a little bit more from a breeder. breeders cost more because their birds are usually hand fed and raised. they will bond more quickly.
cockatiels learn to talk and do tricks.
when i got my ‘tiel the cage was around $60 with food and toys i ended up spending about $140.
‘tiels need toys to interact with. if not they will become especially boredd. the toys also need to be changed out every once in a while.
when looking for food don’t start your birdie on seeds. seeds are great but are fatty. it would be like feeding your kid ice cream all the time. try pellets seeds and natuaral foods.http://www.cockatiel.org/tips/index.html
this is a great website to go to to get you started.
‘tiels are amazing petts. you should really try one.

    Hello.
In the bird magazine, they listed cockateils is # 1 for pet .
Cockateil stay sweet & tame longer than lovebirds, parakeets and parrotlets . The price ranging from $ 50 _ $ 120 ( my price = breeder price ) Do not buy at the pet stores , because their prices are higher and they don’t guarantee the birds are sweet & tame .
Cockateils males can whistle ( my babies males can whistle when they are 2 and a half months old ) females do not make sound much . Cockateils males can learn to talk . If you keep bonding with your teil , your teil will seek for your attention & love . Hope this help . TM

You limited to very small bird, budgies, finches, or parotletts. The cage will be only big enough for one bird at that price. If you want a very social bird wait till you get several hundred dollars more. Birds are not inexpensive, besides the animal and cage you’ll need food, toys, perches, and vet visits. Wing clipped. Make sure you know what you are getting into before you get a Bird.

For that price (at least here in USA – Southern California) you would be looking at a Parakeet/Budgie or Finch. Even Cocktails average price is $125.
    Good Luck to you…

At that price, you’re pretty much restricted to budgies and cockatiels. Both make good pets. Cockatiels last longer.
