A Parakeet will likely be your best option as a beginner Bird, but if you really like it, you could move on to a Quaker Parrot.
Please keep in mind that these birds live a very long time, especially the quakers, so be prepared to have a long term pet, if you’re not really sure how you’re going to like a bird, I suggest you wait a while until you find someone who is giving away a free one (I see it all the time in the paper, etc..) So that there’s not another unwanted pet out there.
There are so many unwanted pets, it would be best to save one if you can.

Depends on your lifestyle… a lot of birds require a lot of attention unless you are willing to have 2 caged together. Depending on the spiecies of bird you chose, having two together could result in the brids not being open to interaction with you.
If you are gonna be able to spend quality time with it daily and allow for at least an hour of out of cage time each day (for smaller species) you should be fine.
Cockatiels are great starter birds.. If youre gonna be away from home a lot you can put two tiels together without the risk of not being able to bond with them.
Tiels here run between 50.00 and 100 bucks from breeders depending on the mutation it can go up a bit or drop in price a bit. Pet store ( not a fan ) prices will be a bit higher then a breeders.
Male tiels are very talkative and vocal. The females are not very vocal but they can become good companions.. They tend to have a bit more attitude lol.
Parakeets (budgies) are also a good option.. They can be purchased for 10.00-25.00 each. Small birds but they can be very funny and lovable.
Please know that birds are a lot of work no matter which species you choose.
If you wish to provide your bird with a safe environment you will need to make some changes. Aerosol sprays, lead wicked or scented candles, telflon cookware, harsh cleaning chemicals, etc can be deadly to birds. Water and food needs to be changed and dishes washed at least twice a day..fruits and veggies need to be offered ( more with some species of birds then others ) Paper in the bottom needs to be changed daily… cage needs to be completely disinfected with a safe cleaner once a week..
Most species live in flocks.. when they have no other birds they need human interaction… They need out of cage time too depending on what species… ( parakeets arent so needy in this way as others species) Birds are also very messy.. More then most people realize.. food gets tossed out of the cage, some will make it a point to aim poop to the outside of the cage too lol
Best of luck making your decision..
My advice is a cockatiel if you have the time and energy needed to maintain a bird. They are fun and commical.
Owned by 11 yr old cat,
    2.5 yr old Quaker parrot
    10.5 Yr old Pied cockatiel

Parakeets, cockatiels, canaries, finches, all those birds are easy to care for, cheap, and make good friends!
Although you still need the time to care, train, and feed the bird! Make sure you meet their requirements before buying a bird!

  7. Outdoors Kid

A myna bird. they’re like a parakeet but very easy to take care of.

This is a serious question. However Cheap and Parrot do not go together well. You can buy a budgie throw it in a cage for maybe less then $50.00. But you get what you pay for. Please save your money and research. There are a lot of good birds that make excellent birds for beginners. The trick is find the one bird for you.

  11. Cockatie

You should get a budgie because they are good beginner birds

i think get a budgie because they only cost about $10-30 depending where you get one they may even be free in a newspaper. you can get a cage for about $20 and the food from a pet shop. budgies make great bigginer pets and can become very tame if you handle it regularly and with care.

a finch or a parakeet …have thamm bothe but buy 2 cuz birdss get lonleyyy!!!!! =/

  14. Sam

    Get a zebra finch
They’re small and they don’t make as big of a mess as other birds do. They are about 19-25 dollars.
A very good bird if it’s your first.

  15. ku

    Parakeet ..

It depends on whether or not you want a bird you can handle or you just want a bird as a pet, that is not tame and would not be handled.
If you want a bird that you probably would not handle, get a pair of finches. They are social so to be happy they would have to be in a pair. A lot of them sing and are wonderful to have in a home. I have zebra finches, the males sing.
If you want a bird you can handle, get a tame parakeet or a lovebird.
